This is something that crops up from time to time, and at a guess it might start to appear more, since many people will be running Enterprise Vault on Windows 2008 (and Windows 2008 R2) in the near future.  The issue is that on the Enterprise Vault client machine, synchronisation of Virtual Vault fails.. no MDC file is created … an error is shown which says :

“No Vaults Available”

The issue here is to do with ASP.Net impersonation.. and the fact that it is turned off.

The solution is simple, it just has to be turned back on.  To do that open the IIS Manager application, navigate to the Enterprise Vault virtual directory, and open the Authentication settings:
