I use many popular applications on Windows, on Mac OSX, on Android, on iPad and so on… but sometimes I want to find something ‘else’.  Sometimes the ‘popular’ choice isn’t always fitting my needs as well as I would like.

I stumbled across the following web site the other day, which helped me explore a bunch of different options.  Take a look at :


Essentially it’s very simple to use, you pick a platform, eg Windows, and search for the app you want to find an alternative to, eg Twitter.  You then get a few lines of information about a range of alternatives.  Ones that sound interesting you can click on, and get more information and links to the hosting page, comments, reviews, and so on.

It’s great.  Take the time to have a look, and you’ll be surprised at the range of options.
