Having just installed 3 new Enterprise Vault Servers into a new repro environment I’m working on, I loooong for automation.

I had to :

run sysprep
install vmware tools
set system options for best performance
set ip address
set name of nic
rename the computer
shutdown
add nat network card, but not connect at power on
power on
activate windows
join the domain
reboot
Add vaultadmin to local administrators group
log out and back in again, as vaultadmin
install outlook 2003
install outlook 2003 SP 3
create a profile for vault admin
login to outlook
install notepad++
install deployment scanner

W2K8R2 components
Add Features -> Message Queueing server
Add Roles -> IIS then customise :
¦ Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 or later.
See “Internet Information Services (IIS)” on page 41.

¦ .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 or SP2.
See “Microsoft .NET Framework” on page 40.

Add Powershell ICE — which adds .Net 3.5.1

Deployment Scanner now is okay – so running install

This is all in VMWare Workstation, using EV 9.0.2

  1. Hello Rob. adding prereqs for EV use powershell. See https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/installing-ev-pre-requisites-powershell

As for the setup, can you not clone a machine in VM so you have to do the initial preparation only once, then copy the machines?
