Yesterday I assisted one of our Director-types with an issue on his Windows 7 laptop.  For 2-3 days he has had an issue where the Workstation Service won’t start.  Unfortunately that means he can’t check email, or access corporate web sites (because without it NetLogon won’t start, and that means no authentication).  He was left with only the internet to browse!

The service fails to start with the message :

Error 2: The system could not find the file specified

The fix …

Basically the ServiceDll entry under LanManWorkstation Parameters was missing.  After putting that back in as %systemroot%system32wkssvc.dll, all was good !
