A colleague asked me this question earlier today:
How do I add additional licenses to an already running EV server?
Well, licensing isn’t something that I normally have to do deal with … All my lab images use a non-expiring license, for all components, which I just point at when doing the initial setup, and all usually ends up “well”. I’ve never had to resolve the issue where I have (for example) some mailbox archiving licenses during installation, and then need to add PST licenses.
Anyway, the solution is quite simple:
- You put the new .SLF file in the Enterprise Vault installation folder, and
- Restart the Admin Service (which will likely restart all of the EV services)
- Monitor DTRACE of the Admin Service (if you really want to) to see what is now licensed.
And that’s it.
