With the new Enterprise Vault 9.0.1 client a handful of customers (so far) have reported seeing the following pop-up on all versions of Outlook, with the new Outlook Add-in.  A fix for this behaviour is in the works, but, we’ve actually not been able to reproduce the issue in house (despite several weeks of testing).  The pop-up appears when manually archiving items.  The idea is that we are checking to make sure you’re trying to archive an item from somewhere that you shouldn’t be able to, for example:

Virtual Vault (though you get a slightly different pop-up)

A PST file

Desktop

Non-Default Exchange mailbox (Outlook 2010 only)

You should only be able to archive stuff in regular folders in your mailbox, or a delegates mailbox.

To see we’ve tried all sorts of things to reproduce this problem is an understatement!  The only I was even semi-successful was the first startup of Outlook following a mailbox move between different versions of Exchange.  A second startup, and the issue has fixed itself.

I can’t go in to the gory details of the code, but needless to say we think our “new” solution to this will work – it certainly has for the customers that have tried a prototype-fix.
